i am 22, almost 23 years old. i got a dui when i was 20. it was a honest mistake, and take full responsibility for my actions. i have nothing else on my record. ive been a correctional officer for a year, trying to get some experience in law enfocement, and waiting on the time to pass because of my dui.is there any way that i can still become a police officer

Thanks for the question.

I am not sure what state you live in, but in South Carolina, where I am, the wait time limit is 10 years before you can apply for a police position following a DUI Conviction.

Once that 10 year time frame has passed, you are eligible for employment as long as everything else is ok as well.

As long as you have a clear record, other than what you mentioned, I don't see a problem other than what I stated previously.
