Everytime I witness the actions of a professed Christian, the word is newly defined for me. When the actions are positive, I see Christianity as positive. When the actions are negative, I see Christianity as negative. That is because Christians use their faith to defend their every action. Therefore, if it is to disrespect the belief of another, they will use their faith to defend that judgment. If it is to give to the poor, they will use their faith to defend it. Good or bad, all things all Christians do are defended by their religion.Theoretically, a Christian is a follow of Christ. Where the confusion comes in, is that you read the words of Christ in the Bible, and quite often, the actions of Christians do not adhere to those words. This is confusing to non Christians. The result seems to be a form of justification for deviating from the words of Jesus Christ. This to me dilutes the truths supposedly embraced by Christians. So a Christian to me is whatever they are defending at the moment. Some moments it is judgment and persecution they are defending. This is confusing.Other moments it is love and compassion. That is wonderful. So one wonders, which kind of Christian will I meet today? Will it be the one who actually believes in Christianity? For example: Romney, a very wealthy man who is against assisting the poor, waves them off like so much prattle, who has never been poor a day in his life, and is one of the richest men in the country at the hand of the hardship of others. How do these passages express HIS Christianity?: "A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.(Psalm 112:5,6,9)For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?(Matthew 16:26)"How does Romney justify his callousness and love of wealth over principle and his love of power over integrity? Does he lie in the face of Bible Scripture? Does he re-interpret the bible to suit his needs, much as Bush reinterpreted the Constitution to legalize torture? A Christian who actually follows the words of their Christ is a pleasure to know. But where ARE they? How can anyone know what a real Christian IS, when there are so many VERSIONS of it?
