Who provides litigation funding for class action lawsuits involving time worked that was not paid by employer?

Postby nissim42 » Sat Apr 02, 2011 11:45 pm

I am involved in a class action lawsuit against a company who did not pay for time that was worked. They had us come to work 10 to 15 min. early to boot up our computers and to get ready for the day, but they would not let us clock in to work until 1 minute prior to scheduled start time. I was advised this violates a portion of the FELA law. The problem is, I cannot find a company who will advance on this type of lawsuit. They all say they either do not fund unpaid wage lawsuits, which I find out a week later, or the class action has too many people involved in it to be profitable for them. Does anyone know of a company who can do this type of funding? Thanks!

This law firm operates nationally and will handle it on a contingency basis (no out of pocket expense to you). They specialize in overtime pay:

They do individual as well as class action suits. They have an entire website full of info.

This law office also specializes in overtime law:

There are others, but they are listed by state. Good luck!

it's usually the lawyer who's handling the case that puts up the funding. if he/she loses they don't get paid anything and lose the money they put out of their pocket.
there is a government agency that should handle that for your group. not sure of the name but they deal with wages and hours. maybe something to do with the department of labor.
try to google DEPARTMENT OF LABOR and then look for WAGES & HOURS.
so it's easy to see why the lawyers are not always eager to take on a case like this.
good luck to ya
