Unemployment is when you are laid off
Workman's comp is when you are injured on the job and you are not suing your company because of the injury

No. Unemployment insurance is government run "coverage" to replace some of your lost wages, when you lose your job through no fault of your own.

Workers compensation, is private insurance that most employers are required to purchase (a few exceptions exist), that provides NO FAULT medical benefits and lost wages coverage when an employee is injured, during the course of their employment.

With workers compensation, they pay for your lost wages and all medical bills and treatment due to sustaining an injury while working.

Unemployment pays you if you lose your job through no fault of you own. But if you are on WC and cannot work, then you cant collect unemployment, since to collect, you must be actively looking for work, and if you cant work, then ineligible.

Hope that makes sense.
