The baby of my friend died in the hospital because of neglect of the nurses..

*sigh* what you said, are all true. sad but true. it really is the situation and fact here in the philippines that's why we cant blame the poor people sometimes for committing crimes or acts done out of necessity. Health insurance is a good way for preparing for an emergency but let's face it. Poor people would rather spend their meager income or money on other necessities like food and their last priority would be some health insurance.
That is a really sad story. Especially since it was the fault of the nurses. If parents can get in trouble for neglecting their kids then the nurses who were on duty and took care of the baby should get into trouble as well. That is really wrong that the nurses didn't even care that the baby wasn't breathing right. That has to be the hardest thing to go through for your friend. There is nothing that can bring her baby back. Tell him not to blame himself for not being rich. A lot of people don't have a lot of money to go to a good hospital, but they still are obligated to care for you and get you well. Financial status doesn't mean they don't have to care for you. They do and they even put that in the bulletin boards at the hospital. Definitely tell them to sue the hospital. They will get a million at least for their lose and for the amount of people neglected the baby. All of that was on camera at the hospital so they have a good case. They deserve the justice for this. I mean the nurses basically killed the baby. They had plenty of time to catch it and get the child breathing right again and they didn't. They should sue for all court costs, they hospital bill, and pain and suffering at least. The lawyer will tell them everything they can sue for. The nurses that took part in this will most likely lose their jobs and they should. How many others have they done this to? The case will take time, but I doubt it will take years without a result. It will take months, but all cases do. I would fight this until I died to get the justice the parents and baby deserve if I were them. Good luck to them.

We in India are familiar with such act of negligence by doctors and nurses. The newpaper, tv shout for a day or two, then cool down. Nothing happens, only the parents cry. Thanks.

Its a very heart breaking ...I am so sorry for your friend..One of my neighbour also had this experiance two years back and i have seen her behaviour at that time.. She was not outside for 5 months ...Now she is getting back from shock.. Its the time for you to show your friendship to her ... You should try to be there with her all time and try to talk with her most time...Try to get the parents the normal life as quick as possible.. Regarding the case..It should be taken into court so that it will be lesson for all those who are not dedicated for their job...How many time it may take ...It will help to save another life of a child...

The baby of my friend died in the hospital because of neglect of the nurses..

Postby chen12 » Wed Dec 14, 2011 5:24 pm

I cried the night I heard the news that the 9-month old baby daughter of my friend died in the hospital because of the neglect of the nurses on duty..My friend and his wife really were at a loss and at the same time really mad. They rushed their baby to the hospital 3 days before because the baby has a high fever. My friend was not financially well-off so they were able to send the baby to a public hospital because it is much cheaper. On the 2nd day, the baby was doing ok and has recovered her strength already and able to play with her dad.HOwever, the doctors decided to let the baby stay for one more day to observe her condition. On the 3rd day, the mom was with the baby when she noticed that the baby was having a hard time breathing so she called the nurse on duty to help her and find out what's wrong. The nurses on duty did not care and just glanced at the baby saying "it's alright, there's nothing wrong." The mom was already frantic and carried the baby and running down the hospital hall looking for a doctor or nurse but none of the nurses even bothered to help her or the baby. After a few minutes, the baby died already.. My friend was really mad and depressed at the same time. He keeps on blaming himself that he was not rich so he wasnt able to have his daughter be treated in a private hospital wherein she could have gotten better treatment and then she wouldnt have to die.. At the same time, they were really mad at the hospital because many nurses witnessed the incident but no one bothered to respond or help the baby. They are thinking of suing the hospital for neglect, not because they want some money to be compensated to them, but mainly because they want some justice for their baby girl..Do you think they should file this case or are they just prolonging their agony if they sue? Because justice system in our country is really not that good especially since they are not really rich. The case may take time, months or even years without a result.

oh gosh what a sad story. I just really don't get people there in the Philippines. I been to a hospital there once and ended up swearing at the front desk cause they were asking us to "down" some cash before my cousin could be treated, she cut her hand and was bleeding pretty bad. Since I was a "balikbayan" I did not like how we were treated and surely gave them a piece of my mind. I even threw down the money on the desk, I was even tempted to throw it at theyre faces. R.I.P to your friends baby. I feel so sorry and sad for the mommy and I am a mom myself and my son is currently 7 months old.

I'm sorry for your friends loss. Please send them my condolences. Well that is clearly a case of medical negligence. They should have help your friend when she was running down the hall with the baby. I mean what are they doing that they couldn't attend to your friends baby. I couldn't imagine myself if it were me with my baby. Medical negligence cases maybe hard to prove but they should pursue it. I mean it could never replace their child but at some point the compensation should help and those doctors and nurses shouldn't be stripped of their licenses for their negligence.
